Protection = Limited Access

Protection = Limited Access

Everyone and everything is not accessible. Barriers exist on roadways to separate opposing traffic, doors close entryways to homes, and fences block off areas of land. These methods described are largely for protection. Just as these offer protection, you must not always give full access to you by others. Limitations must be put in place to protect yourself.

One area I will focus on in this blog is to protect your heart. The heart not only provides life to our body but also has an impact on how we feel.

Domestic Violence Awareness

A critical aspect of protecting your heart is being aware of domestic violence and its impact. Domestic violence is a serious issue that affects millions of people worldwide. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States alone. This equates to more than 10 million women and men over the course of a year.

Domestic violence isn’t limited to physical abuse; it also includes emotional, psychological, and financial abuse. The scars from these types of abuse can be just as deep and lasting as physical ones. Recognizing the signs of domestic violence and understanding that it is not your fault is the first step towards protecting yourself and seeking help.

A Biblical Perspective on Love

In protecting your heart, it’s essential to remember what true love looks like. The Bible offers a beautiful description of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV): “Love is patient, love is kind.” True love is nurturing and safe, never harmful or abusive. By setting boundaries and limiting access to your heart, you are honoring yourself and the true nature of love.

Be empowered, you are loved by God and a beautiful creation. Until next time, take care of yourself and others. 💜💜
