Let’s Talk About Anxiety- The Roadblock of Living Fully

Anxiety is that nervous feeling, knots in your throat, sweating, stumbling over words, silencer, playing out of what’s to come in one’s head. I’m sure there are endless ways to explain anxiety but these are just a few characteristics.

Now that we’ve hashed out what anxiety is, let’s discover what impact it has on our ability to live fully. Three words: ONE HUGE ROADBLOCK.  Why though? Let’s say you want to try something new like ice skating. Sounds fun, great exercise opportunity, nice new skill BUT……what if I fall or am bad at it or if others laugh at me or…or…or. Nevermind, ice skating isn’t for me. Do you see my point now? Anxiety is the roadblock of living fully.

Let’s now address how one overcomes this nagging roadblock. The solution is simple, God and Work. When I mention God I am referring to Jesus Christ who died for us so we may live and be forgiven for our sins. Secondly, for work, it’s like exercising a muscle. You must work at it daily. If you have anxiety about doing something positive, do it anyway. Do it scared, nervous, stumbling. Just get there.

The Bible provides comfort in these moments. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Statistics show that anxiety disorders affect 19.1% of U.S. adults each year (National Institute of Mental Health). This underscores the importance of addressing anxiety head-on, combining faith and action.

To overcome anxiety, trust in God, take action, and watch as your confidence grows, allowing you to live fully and embrace every moment.

Be empowered, you are loved by God and a beautiful creation. Until next time, take care of yourself and others. 💜💜
